About Dnipropetrovs’k

Dnipropetrovs’k is one of the major industrial centers of Ukraine. It has several facilities devoted to heavy industry that produce a wide range of products, including cast-iron, rolled metal, pipes, machinery, different mining combines, agricultural equipment, tractors, trolleybuses, refrigerators, different chemicals and many others.

The city also has big food processing and light industry factories. Many sewing and dress-making factories work for France, Canada, Germany and Great Britain, using the most advanced technologies, materials and design.

The city has high scientific potential. There are more than one hundred research institutes and design engineering firms including five institutes of the Ukrainian Academy of Science. Higher education institutions prepare different experts for all industries, space , military engineering and also the social and cultural sectors.

Within the Dnipropetrovs’k Metropolitan Area there are 1,000,300 people.
In summer Dnipropetrovs’k is very warm , the average day temperature in July is 24 to 27 °C (75 to 81 °F), and in winter it is cold , the average day temperature in January is 3 to 4 °C (37 to 39 °F).The most comfortable and most beautiful time for visiting the city is in late spring — second part of April and May, which is why we are holding the Congress at this time , and early in autumn: September, October, when the city's trees turn yellow. Long periods of rain are normal in autumn. Other times are mainly dry with a few showers. The climate is a mixture of temperate and continental climates and sometimes in winter it is very cold and snowy (sometimes dropping down to −10 to −15 °C), and in summer, the city can grow extremely hot (up to + 37 °C).
